Registry of Data Repositories

You can browse or search for a data repository at re3data.org. This is a global registry of research data repositories covering different academic disciplines. You can search or browse by subject, content type or country. You can filter the search and browse results on criteria for choosing a data repository as described above.

Here are some well-known and generic repositories:

  • Zenodo A repository that enables researchers, scientists, EU projects and institutions to share and showcase multidisciplinary research results (data and publications) that are not part of the existing institutional or subject-based repositories of the research communities;
  • Dryad A curated general-purpose repository that makes the data underlying scientific publications discoverable, freely reusable and citable. Dryad has integrated data submission for a growing list of journals;
  • DataverseNL For any kind of data with a designated service for Utrecht University;
  • Open Science Framework (OSF) A scholarly commons to connect the entire research cycle. It is part network of research materials, part version control system, and part collaboration software;
  • Figshare A repository that allows researchers to publish all of their research outputs in an easily citable, sharable and discoverable manner.
  • Elixir Core Data Resources ELIXIR Core Data Resources are a set of European data resources of fundamental importance to the wider life-science community and the long-term preservation of biological data.
