Things That Can Go Wrong

  • Theft Open doors, lack of backup, leaks of confidential information
  • Disasters Fire can happen to anyone. It destroyed university buildings at Southampton, Twente and Delft, causing significant damage to data storage facilities
  • Technical Failure In extreme conditions, less than 80% of all hard disk drives survive their 4th birthday; SSD’s show better results, but are more expensive.
  • Hacking Too many users don’t see (or care about) standard risks e.g. spoofing, suspicious files, USB-sticks, . . .
